Even With Tweaks, Taxing Internet Sales Is a Bad Idea - California Democrats continue to pursue constitutionally dubious bills aimed at forcing online-only retailers with no physical presence in the state to collect and remit sales tax.
Illinois tries to make its spending woes America’s problem - As early as this week, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told The Post he will propose sweeping legislation to tax all online purchases -- in a move aimed at closing state budget shortfalls. In typical Democrat fashion, Democrats in California and Illinois are looking to join some of their peers by pushing an internet sales tax. And what "better" way for them to collect on their own debts than through taxing people, thus raising the price of online goods, killing off affiliate programs in these states (i.e. Amazon, eBay). Affiliate programs that people rely on for extra income. Not to mention punish small businesses, online or real world, who have affiliate relationships with these companies; thus forcing them to close up shop and move to a friendlier state if possible for them.
Of course, Democrats arrogantly believe that the states they are slowly (or quickly) running into the ground should be "bailed out" by a nation-wide internet sales tax. So their burden becomes all of our burdens while they continue to spend, spend, spend like it's going out of style.
